My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This is a revised letter so please pay attention to the revisions going forward. It seems as though the public restrictions have gotten tighter and that the return day seems to have been pushed to April 28th. I hope this isn’t going to be the case, although, as per the directive of the Archbishop all masses are continuing to be cancelled. This also means that all of our public gatherings are to be cancelled as well.
What we will be doing is still maintaining confessions on Saturday and they will be held from 3-5pm. Since we cannot celebrate mass publically we will try to live stream mass onto facebook as well as record it and put it on You tube as well as post it on Saint Monica’s website so you can attend in spirit and make a spiritual communion. Your pastor will be offering the Holy Sacrifice of the mass for you every day during this time at the rectory outside Sunday Mass. You may call the office and the emergency number on the voicemail will grant you access to me. With this access you may text or leave a message for me to make an appointment with you to hear your confession or just talk on the phone. You can also email me as well at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will still be able to come and visit Jesus in prayer in the adoration chapel at any time, there will only be a 5 person limit in the chapel due to keeping the ability to maintain the appropriate separation, again if you need assistance call the office and listen to the voice mail for assistance, especially if you do not have the code to the chapel. We will try to provide this assistance as best we can. If you are wondering what to do with your donations please just send them to us in the mail and we will process all of that as usual as it comes to us. May God’s blessings be upon you in this time of crisis and isolation. I would also like to say as an offer to everyone, that if I get five or more requests of those willing to sit with Jesus, I will be willing to expose the Blessed Sacrament for a time, so if anyone is interested in this please call as well.
Please let us keep each other in prayer and pray much for the conclusion of all that is going on in these days. Prayer is the only thing that will draw God’s attention to our pleas. Pray hard and pray often and don’t let this time pass without allowing it to deepen your love and affection of our Lord in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. May this time of isolation and heartbreak not harden your hearts or make them indifferent, but reinforce all the more your love for God and the need and reliance that we and the whole world have in Him.
With a heavy heart and with deepest affection,
Father Robert Wolf
P.S. As we move forward please make continual acts of spiritual communion in these or similar words in prayer: “My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
